Jeremy Jennings to lead Ernst & Young's regulatory & public policy for Europe, Middle East, India and Africa

Jeremy, who also chairs the European Contact Group, a policy grouping of the top six accounting firms internationally, will continue to be responsible for building relationships with the EU institutions in Brussels, given their critical importance to the Ernst & Young business in EMEIA, but will be expanding his focus on the broader international regulatory community throughout the EMEIA region.

Commenting on his new role Jeremy said, “This is an exciting time for Ernst & Young. The accounting profession faces some unique challenges, not least the implementation of the EU Statutory Audit Directive, ongoing discussions on liability limitation and the introduction of independent auditor oversight.

"My team and I are looking forward to continuing EY leadership in working closely with regulators and policy makers in Brussels and across the EMEIA area on agreeing solutions to these challenges, to help support the continued vibrancy and relevance of the accounting profession to the global capital markets.”

Formerly partner in charge of the Andersen EU office of public affairs in Brussels, Jeremy joined Ernst & Young in 2002. He has held a number of high profile positions on external regulatory and advisory bodies during his career. In addition to his role as chairman of the ECG, Jeremy is currently a member of the Regulatory Working Group of the large firms’ global public policy committee (GPPC) and was recently appointed to the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

He is also vice-president and treasurer of the Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Continental Europe. In 2000 he was awarded an OBE for services to British/Belgian trade.
